Daily Kitchen Note
Don't let your carrots go limp in the fridge. Removing their green tops before storage keeps them crisp and fresh by preventing moisture loss.

How to Remove carrot tops
- Twist or cut off the green leafy tops from the carrots as soon as you bring them home.
- Do not wash the carrots until you are ready to use them.
- Place the trimmed carrots in a perforated plastic bag.
- Store the bag in the crisper drawer of your refrigerator.
Why it works
The green leafy tops of carrots continue to draw moisture and nutrients from the root even after harvesting. By removing the tops immediately, you stop this moisture loss, preventing the carrots from becoming limp and helping them retain their crisp texture in the refrigerator.
